Insanity Alert, ou l’un des groupes les plus cinglés qui soit. Ces autrichiens ravagent les scènes depuis déjà pas mal d’années avec leur Thrash/Crossover à toutes épreuves et leur humour … particulier. J’ai tout de suite aimer ce groupe quand je les ai découvert au Hellfest 2019. Et aujourd’hui,… bin c’est un des groupes que j’ai vu le plus de fois sur scène ! 8 fois pour être exact. En même temps, quand le groupe est d’une qualité pareil … Pour la sortie de leur dernier EP, j’ai eu la chance de m’entretenir avec le chanteur Keavy.
Anecdote:
Cette interview n’as failli jamais se faire. Je vous explique: Keavy et moi sont amis via Facebook. Je me suis donc permis de le contacter pour savoir si une interview serait intéressant pour lui. Ce qu’il accepta avec joie. On avait convenue d’un RDV via Zoom. Mon PC m’as lâché juste avant… Deuxième tentative, une semaine plus tard via Skype. Son PC l’a lâché juste avant… J’étais désespéré … Mais Keavy a trouvé la solution. En effet, il m’a demandé si je faisais l’un de ces deux festivals: Le Durbuy Rock ou le Huginns Awakening. Et par un heureux hasard, je faisais ce dernier. Comme quoi, faut jamais renoncer !
INTERVIEW:
Moi : Ok, we are with Heavy Keavy of Insanity Alert, first question, and for me, it’s the most important : How are you ?

Keavy : Absolute « magnifique » ! (Laugh). I’m super good, i’m very happy to play in this show. In general, i’m a very happy person
(Absolument “magnifique” ! (Rires). Je vais super bien, je suis très content de jouer ici. En général, je suis une personne heureuse)
M : We are at the Huginns awakening Fest. It is the first time at this festival for you ?
(On est au Huginns Awakening Fest. C’est la première fois pour toi ?)
K : Yeah, it is our first time
(Ouais, c’est notre première fois)
M : Last year, you’ve played at Betiz Fest, my town…
(L’an dernier, vous avez joué au Betiz Fest, ma ville ….)
K : Yeah, it was a glorious day. It was the end of our tour with Dust Bolt and Crisix. We were a little bit tired, ‘cause, you know, Insanity Alert is a group who loves to make a party, and a day before, we’ve played in Montbéliard and it was… a bit boring. So we were like « Ok, it is the last date, and we’re gonna break everything ! ». And it was completely crazy ! Some hours after our performance, during the show of Crisix, the people continues to scream « All mosh no brain »… It was really cool to see this after so many years of playing in France, to try to bring something new to the european Thrash / Crossover scene..
(Ouais, c’était un jour glorieux. C’était la fin de la tournée avec Dust Bolt et Crisix. On était un peu fatigué, parce que tu sais, Insanity Alert est un groupe qui aime faire la fête, et la veille, on avait joué à Montbéliard, et c’était …un peu ennuyeux. Donc on était genre “Ok, c’est la dernière date, et on va tout péter !” Et c’était complètement dingue ! Quelques heures après notre performance, pendant le show de Crisix, les gens continuaient de crier “All Mosh no Brain”… C’était très cool de voir ça après de nombreuses années à jouer en France, d’essayer d’amener quelque chose de nouveau dans la scène Thrash / Crossover européen)
M : Your favorite style of Metal ?
(Ton style de Metal préféré ?)
K : Probably Crossover, because for me bands like Suicidal and D.R.I, S.O.D. and Municipal Waste… They are free to do. I love Metal in general, i love 80’ies Heavy Metal, Thrash, i love some Black Metal, i love old Sepultura, Grindcore … I like Jazz music better ! (Laugh)
(Probablement le Crossover, car pour moi des bandes comme D.R.I., S.O.D. et Municipal Waste… Ils sont libres de faire ce qu’ils veulent. J’aime le Metal en général, j’aime le Heavy des années, le Thrash, j’aime un peu le Black Metal, j’aime le vieux Sepultura, le Grindcore… Mais je préfère le Jazz (Rires))
M : You have released a new EP. It’s a some of cover of Queen, Iron Maiden, George Michael and Guns & Roses. Are you a fan of these bands ?
(Vous avez sortis un nouvel EP. Ce sont des de reprises de de Queen, Iron Maiden, George Michael et Guns & Roses. Vous êtes fans de ces groupes ?)
K : Yes ! But not really George Michael (Laugh). I can not really speak for Michael because i’ve never really listen to him. I only know hits song. But for the other bands, yes, i’m a big fan. I really love Guns & Roses since i was 12 years old. It was my first concert, in Rotterdam, in 1990. Queen and Iron Maiden are for me really closed to the biggest thing on the planet. I have a lot of respect for George Michael for what he do, i think it was not easy for him at this time to dueling with the press
(Oui ! Mais pas vraiment de George Michael (Rires). Je ne peux pas vraiment parler de Michael car je ne l’ai jamais vraiment écouté. Je connais seulement les hits. Mais pour les autres groupes, oui, je suis un gros fan. J’aime vraiment Guns & Roses depuis que j’ai 12 ans. C’était mon premier concert à Rotterdam, en 1990. Queen et Iron Maiden sont pour moi les meilleurs groupes au monde. J’ai pas mal de respect pour ce que George Michael a fait)
M : It is not the first time your play an Iron Maiden « remake » ?
(C’est pas votre premier “remake” de Iron Maiden ?)
K : No, it’s the second. Our band started with a twisted cover from « Run to the Hills » / « Run to the Pit » and was been our motor from the first day. Cause it was our first song named to be a joke. It was 15 years ago, it was incredibly genius for us… cause we are all of us being too drunk. But every time we play this song at every show, always, peoples said « YES! ». The original is a very, very good song, and i think we turned it into a Thrash song for people who loved to sing
(Non, c’est la seconde. Notre groupe a commencé sur cover de “Run to the Hills”/”Run to the pit” et c’était un moteur pour nous dès le début. Parce que c’était notre première musique nommée comme une blague. C’était il y a 15 ans, et c’était du génie pour nous… parce qu’on était tous bourrés. Mais à chaque fois qu’on la joue à nos concerts, toujours, les gens crient “YES!”. L’original est très très bon son, et je trouvais que de la transformer en Thrash Metal pour les gens qui aime chanter était une bonne idée)
M : Why theses songs ?
(Pourquoi ces musiques ?)
K : It was 5 years ago, we’ve released our full-length album 666-Pack, and it was during the COVID. Everyone does the work at home, writing new songs… But not us, because we’ve played Nintendo, we’ve drink, watch Netflix… And then, our label records, Season of mist say « Hey ! Have you make a new album ? » … No. So we have this idea, when you are with friends, you know, the same feeling when you drink and you said « YEAH, IT’S A FANTASTIC IDEA » … so you make a memo. And that’s it, we have this idea since 5 years ago
(C’était il y a 5 ans, on avait sorti notre album 666-Pack, et c’était pendant le COVID. Tout le monde travaillait à la maison, écrivait de nouvelles musiques… Mais pas nous, on jouait à la Nintendo, on picolait, on regardait Netflix… Et là, notre label, Season of Mist nous a demandé “Hey, vous avez fait un nouvel album ?” … Non. Donc, on a eu cette idée, quand tu es avec tes potes, tu vois, ce même sentiment quand tu bois et que tu dis “OUAIS, c’est une idée géniale !” … donc là, tu fais un memo. Et c’est ça, on a eu cette idée y’a 5 ans)
M : How the band was created ?
(Comment le groupe a été crée ?)
K : We were in the same town, in Innsbrück. We were going at the same concert : Punk, Hardcore, Metal, … We’ve meet each others and smoking and drinking together and finally « Yeah, we need to start a band ! »… Just like every good band. So, we have make a song but we did’nt want to play A friend of mine, from Italy say « We need a support for Suicidal Tendencies ». And our first show was with Suicidal Tendencies … Directly in front of thousands people… We’ve make 20 minutes of music and play 5 songs
(On était dans la même ville, à Innsbrück. On allait au même concert: Punk, Hardcore, Metal,… A force, on se connaissait à force de se voir, on buvait et on fumait ensemble et finalement, on s’est dit “Ouais, on doit faire un groupe”… Comme tous les autres bons groupes. Donc on a fait une musique mais on ne voulait pas jouer. Un ami à moi, en Italie, m’a dit “On a besoin d’un groupe de première partie pour Suicidal Tendencies”. Et c’était notre premier show avec Suicidal Tendencies… Directement devant des centaines de personnes… On a fait un show de 20 minutes et on a joué 5 musiques)
M : You have you own label record: Mosher Zero
(Tu as ton propre label Mosher Zero)
K : Yeah. I want to it dedicated to Ramones. The Ramones is my favorite band of all time. For me Ramones is better than Led Zeppelin, better than the Beatles, better than ABBA… So yes, i’ve my own label, it’s a Thrash label for european bands. It is for help the new band from Dublin, scandinavian scene ,… i don’t care ! I want to help the young bands. Like Headless Hunter, from Holland, and Battlecreek from the south of Germany. Caus’ for me, european Thrash of not enough attention. This scene need more attention. There are so many good bands to discover in that scene. If you look at the line up of the Huginns, there is so many bands from Europe. We don’t need to fly to see good bands play
(Ouais. Je voulais le dédicacer aux Ramones. Les Ramones sont mon groupe préféré. Pour moi, ils sont meilleurs que Led Zeppelin, meilleurs que les Beatles, meilleurs que ABBA… Donc oui, j’ai mon propre label, c’est un label de Thrash pour les groupes européens. C’est pour aider les groupes de Dublin, de la scène scandinavienne … peu importe ! Je veux aider les jeunes groupes. Comme Headless Hunter, de Hollande, et Battlecreek du sud de l’Allemagne. Car, pour moi, le Thrash européen ne reçoit pas assez d’attention. Il y a tellement de bons groupes à découvrir dans cette scène. Si tu regardes la line up du Huginns, tu vois qu’il y a pleins de groupes européen. Pas besoin de prendre l’avion pour voir des bons groupes jouer)
